Interactive Grammar Engineering in GF

چکیده
Among older and more widely used grammar engineering environments are XLE [9, 12] and LKB [3, 8] systems developed in 90-ies. Some features of these systems are represented in the Table 1. Their grammar formalisms come from computational linguistics: feature-structured, unification-based, which is quite different from the GF approach. Below you can see an example of lexical item for the word program in the corresponding grammar formalisms. Lexicon fragment for the word program in LFG:

Modular Grammar Engineering in GF
The Grammatical Framework GF is a grammar formalism designed for multilingual grammars. A multilingual grammar has a shared representation, called abstract syntax, and a set of concrete syntaxes that map the abstract syntax to different languages. A GF grammar consists of modules, which can share code through inheritance, but which can also hide information to achieve division of labour between...
متن کاملThesis for the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy Formal and Informal Software Specifications
The topic of this thesis is to bridge the gap between formal and informal software specifications. Formal specifications are required for the use of formal methods to verify the correctness of software. If we expect formal methods to be used in realistic software development projects, we need to enable people with varying levels of familiarity with formal specification languages to understand, ...
متن کاملGrammatical Framework (GF) for MT in sublanguage domains
Grammatical Framework (GF) is a meta-language for multilingual linguistic descriptions, which can be used to build rule-based interlingua MT applications in natural sublanguage domains. The GF open-source package contains linguistic and computational resources to facilitate language engineering including: a resource grammar library for ten languages, a user interface for multilingual authoring ...
متن کاملSpeech Translation with Grammatical Framework
Grammatical Framework (GF) is a grammar formalism which supports interlinguabased translation, library-based grammar engineering, and compilation to speech recognition grammars. We show how these features can be used in the construction of portable high-precision domain-specific speech translators.
متن کاملThesis for the Degree of Licentiate of Philosophy
This thesis describes a number of practical experiments rather than theoretical investigations in the area of natural language processing. The basis for the work presented is Grammatical Framework (GF). It is a very complex system, which comprises among other things a grammar formalism based on type theory and its implementation written in Haskell. GF is intended for high-quality machine transl...
